If you are looking to escape the gloomy winter weather of northern Europe, then why not head to the sun-drenched island of Cyprus and rent a slice of paradise…

On a plateau, overlooking the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea, not far from Paphos, lies the award-winning Aphrodite Hills Resort, which has everything you could want from a holiday in the sun. With luxury accommodation, a superb 18-hole golf course, restaurants and bars, as well as one of the world’s best spas, what more could you want? And for those who would rather enjoy the freedom of renting a property, instead of staying in a hotel, there is a wide selection to choose from.

Aphrodite Hills Villas. If you are looking to rent a luxury villa that gives you that little bit extra, then the Mythos Collection is a perfect choice. They are sumptuously furnished, with heated pools, daily cleaning and a breakfast basket delivered every morning, which means you can just put your feet up and relax. Each five-bedroom property has a plasma screen TV, multiple bathrooms, and boast stunning views, perfect for enjoying the Mediterranean sunsets.    If that doesn’t tempt you, then perhaps one of the Elite Villas, which can accommodate both large groups and smaller family units, with properties ranging in size from 250-650m2. They have been finished to a very high standard and have all the contemporary fittings guests expect from a luxury property.      There are also the Superior Villas, with anything from 2 to 5 bedrooms, which can house up to 10 people and have private pools and secluded gardens, while the Luxury Junior Villas can house up to six people, with the option of a private pool.

Luxury Apartments. Set within the various villages that make up the resort, you also find 1,2 and 3-bedroom Luxury Holiday Apartments, where you have the options of staying for longer periods, if you so should wish. Each of the apartments are uniquely furnished and have private balconies where you can sip a glass of wine and enjoy the view, as well as a spacious communal pool. The rental properties at Aphrodite give you access to the 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, kids club, on site restaurants, spa facilities and much more.

The Village Square. At the heart of the resort lies the charming Village Square with its diverse range of shops including car, bike and Segway rentals, a supermarket, a gift shop and a Costa Coffee. There is also a wide selection of restaurants and bars to choose from. If you fancy authentic Cypriot cuisine, then head to Pithari Tavern, while the Gate to India Restaurant serves innovative Indian cuisine. At Zimi Trattoria you’ll find traditional Italian food, the ideal choice for families who are looking for a quick and tasty meal and Ladi & Rigani serves kebabs in a casual, family-friendly outdoor restaurant. Or you can head over to the Anoi Pub & Bar and enjoy a beer, or a glass of wine, while gazing out at the spectacular panoramic view.    The Aphrodite Hills Golf Clubhouse Restaurant is open to golfers and visitors alike and serves international dishes, accompanied by a range of fine wines.

Activities. When you get tired of lazing in the sun, there are plenty of things to do at the resort. With Aphrodite Hills’ spectacular 18-hole golf course, right on your doorstep you can play golf to your hearts delight. And if your skills need a bit of fine tuning, there is a 3-hole Golf Academy, as well as a driving range, pitching and chipping green, an impressive Golf Clubhouse, Lounge and Pro Shop.     The resort also has nine floodlit championship tennis courts, with coaching and tuition provided.     There is no need for children to complain about being bored when staying at the resort, as the Aphrodite Hills Kids Club has plenty of fun indoor and outdoor activities for children aged 3-12 years. There is also a crèche for babies, aged 6-24 months, and if you fancy going out for a meal in peace and quiet, a baby-sitting service is available to make that possible. And for those children who are passionate about football, there is a Football Academy for girls and boys of all ages and abilities.

Facilities. When you feel the need for a bit of pampering, head over to the award-winning spa, where you’ll find Greco-Roman Thermae Heat Rooms, a pool, sundeck, gardens, a restaurant and a healthy juice bar. A multitude of individual treatments and packages are available to clients.     There is also an exclusive child-friendly Beach Club, with complimentary beach facilities, sun beds, umbrellas and beach towels. If you would like to escape the resort for a bit, Paphos is just a short drive away, as are historical sites and, if you haven’t had enough golf, there are three other courses within easy reach.     With its wonderful year-round climate and superb golf courses, Cyprus is definitely a destination worth visiting again and again.
